PIE: Last Day for Matching Grant. Tomorrow, November 20th, is our last day to donate where YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL BE DOUBLED!!! Every dollar you give will be matched by a generous “Double Your Money” challenge grant given by a group of parents, including several from our El Carmelo Elementary. Since donation days began yesterday, 22 families have generously donated. THANK YOU! Our current family participation is at 24.6%. We have a little ways to go to reach our 66% participation that we achieved last year. We would love to reach that and go beyond it so keep the donations coming in!
You may recall, through the donations collected last year, El Carmelo received more than $105,000 to pay for teacher aides, visits from the Jr. Museum, and our spectacular Spectra Art teachers. Please help us keep these programs and staff by donating what you can to PiE. In these tough economic times, our Palo Alto public schools need our financial support more than ever.
You can drop off your donations this week with any of our kind parent volunteers, in the school office, or make an electronic contribution immediately by going to www.papie.org. Just remember that we can double your donation until tomorrow. Let us all take advantage of that! Many thanks for your support, Chuck Merritt
Family Game Night Come join El Carmelo families in the MP room on Friday, November 20th at 7pm. Games of all kinds will be available to enjoy and learn together.
Composting at El Carmelo. We are the first elementary school and the second school in the PAUSD (joining Terman) to pilot the city of Palo Alto’s new waste diversion program. Along with the usual options of single-stream recycling and non-recyclable waste we have added composting to the options at our school. While the pilot is going well, we would still like to encourage you to use reusable containers when possible for your student’s lunch.
